Bangkok International Airport (BIA), under the operating of the Airports Authority of Thailand (AAT), has for many years played an important role in international civil aviation transport. It is today a major gateway into and within Southeast Asia. Used by more than 70 international carriers, it is considered today as one of Asia's busiest Airports. In 1994, the airport approximately served 16 million international passengers as well as 5 million air travelers.
Located on Vibhavadi Rangsit Road, 21 kilometers north of Bangkok Metropolitan Area. Passengers coming from downtown be advised to take the Expressway which the entrances are located on Ploenchit Road, Artnarong, Dao Khanong, Klong Toey, Samrong and Bang Na Trat Highway on the eastern site.
Vat Refund For Tourists
Since 1 June 1999, all tourists traveling to Thailand, who purchase goods from the stores and shops & retail outlets labeled with "VAT REFUND FOR TOURISTS" are able to receive value added tax (VAT) refunds before departing from Thailand. The Tourists will immediately receive cash refunds at the tax refund counter in the departing hall of Bangkok, Chiangmai, Phuket, Hat Yai International Airports.
Visitors who wants to claim value-added tax refunds starting in June 1999 can obtain application forms when walking purchases at stores displaying the VAT Refund for Tourists logo.
Prior to airport departure, visitors must present a completed form, plus passport information and goods purchased to customs officer. Certain Luxury goods must also be shown to a revenue officer. Refunds will be in draft form or credited to credits card.
Who can claim VAT refunds?
a VAT refund can be claimed by any non-Thai visitor who
- is not a crew member of an airline;
- A non Thai visitor who has been in Thailand less than 180 days in a calendar year.
- departs Thailand by air carrier from an international airport.
How will to refund be paid ?
You can choose to receive your refund by
not exceeding 10,000 baht
exceeding 10,000 baht
cash in Thai baht daft credit to credit card account
draft credit to credit card account
Note : you must specify the method of receiving the refund on your form (P.P.10).
