Hua Hin gets HIP
A local hotel operator has invested Bt350 million in a “highly individual place” (HIP) hotel at Hua Hin-Cha-am Beach, which straddles the provinces of Phetchaburi and Prachuap Khiri Khan.
The property – Veranda Resort and Spa – consists of 97 guestrooms and villas with modern facilities and is scheduled to open today.
It is expected to run an occupancy rate of 50 to 60 per cent in the first year of operation.
The trend for HIP hotels began in Thailand several years ago, with about 10 such hotels now open around the country in places such as Phuket, Koh Samui and Krabi.
Verawat Ongvasith, major shareholder and president of the hotel, said Hua Hin-Cha-am Beach has great potential as a popular destination for the hotel industry.
Many hotels in such places have upgraded their properties, with the aim of capturing high-end markets. So, we have to differentiate ourselves from the others, said Verawat.
Verawat said the hotel’s target group is professionals aged 25 to 40 who have a trendy lifestyle.
